JOINT TOURISM MARKETING AGREEMENT INITIATED

Cape Town Tourism, Johannesburg Tourism and Durban Tourism met at the 2011 Tourism Indaba to initiate a joint city marketing agreement between the three cities. Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban are South Africa’s economic and tourism hubs and the joint marketing agreement will see them collaborate to maximise tourism develop-ment and marketing. The three organisations agree that cities are the lead brands for countries. Cities have history, heritage that has stood the test of time as well as promising developmental futures. Out of the top 10    destinations    in    Tripadvisor’ s Readers Choice Awards, nine were cities, of which Cape Town took the number one spot. The joint agreement is the outcome of the three cities reassessing strategies and committing to go beyond the traditional to challenge compartmentalised marketing thinking.

Quick-News reveals expansion of Infrastructure

I was amazed to see an expansion not only in tourism, but also in our infrastructure.  Here is the article I read.
CAPE PORT EXPANSION ON TRACK  Transnet would spend R5.4 billion in the next five years on the expansion of the Cape Town container terminal, the ports and rail parastatal said. Transnet has spent R2.5bn on the project, which will double the terminal’s capacity from the current 700 000 containers a year to 1.4 million containers by next year. The 30-year-old ship-to-shore cranes in this terminal have been replaced with six Liebherr super post-panamax cranes, which have twin lift capability. Two more new cranes will be added.

Top 25 Destinations in the World

Trip Advisor

Cape Town glistens at the southern toe of the African continent. Tourist brochure-views at Blaauwberg Beach and Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens are within easy driving distance of "The Mother City." The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve provides sweeping sea vistas, hiking trails and wildlife encounters. On a more somber note, travelers can visit Robben Island, the prison where Nelson Mandela was held for 27 years.

Quick-News Positive

SA GRADUATES ARE CONFIDENT  The majority of graduate professionals are confident about staying in SA, according to a recent survey. "Graduate professionals occupy key occupations such as accountancy, engineering, medicine and law, many of which have a skills shortage, so it is very significant to see these people are confident of remaining in SA," said Gerhard Joubert, head of group marketing at financial services provider PPS. The PPS survey tracked the confidence levels of over 4000 SA graduate professionals on issues such as emigration, crime, healthcare and investment markets available to them in their chosen professions.

What great news!
